How To Use Your Grab and Go Dropshot Kit

How To Fish The Dropshot!

How to tie a dropshot rig.

  1. Pass your leader through the hook's eye and then pass it back on itself. (Best to have 50cm+ of leader to make the rig work)
  2. Take this doubled up length and tie an overhand knot (with the hook hanging in the bottom of the knot)
  3. Take the loop and pass it around the hook.
  4. Moisten the line before pulling it tight and finish off by passing your tag end downwards through eye of the hook.
  5. Once you've attached your dropshot weight to the tag end, you are ready to go!

Dropshotting F.A.Q.

Q. What rod is most suitable for dropshot fishing?

A. Any lure rod with a sensitive tip will work, but a 1-8gm casting weight rod will be most suitable. My Ultralight Lure Rod is specifically designed with dropshot in mind and makes catching fish of all sizes a lot of fun.

Q. What species is this method for?

A. I mostly find dropshotting good for catching perch and zander. You do pickup the odd pike, but since I fish the dropshot with a flurocarbon leader - I tend to avoid areas full of pike since they can sometimes bite through your line!

Q. Which locations does dropshot work best?

A. I've done great with the dropshot on canals, rivers and lakes - but usually in spots where I can fish quite close in and work the lure or worm very slowly. If you need to cast further, fish open water or cover more water (quicker) I'd recommend my Light Lure Kit.
